La Peyriere -

the heart of Provence
le coeur de la Provence

Just outside the property are vineyards and olive groves and tempting country roads. They lead to villages, antique shops, restaurants, cafes, wine-tasting. An organic vineyard is less than a ten-minute walk away.

Mont Ventoux, visible from the house, is less than an hour's drive away (26 km). It offers a stunning panoramic view over hundreds of kilometers.

Thirty minutes away, in the opposite direction, is Avignon (25km), with its bridge, its ruins, its winding river, its festivals, its miles of shopping and restaurants.

Closer by, just 5 minutes away (5 km in opposite directions), are 2 charming towns (Carpentras and Mazan) with restaurants, shopping, street markets, antique fairs, and wonderful old streets. The smaller town, Mazan is ideal for fresh baguettes in the morning. It also has a chateau that was once the residence of the Marquis de Sade - now a charming restaurant.

Carpentras is much larger. It has 2 supermarkets, and 2 weekly fairs. Both are crowded and bustling. There are a myriad of small shops, including a chococlate shop, pastry shops, and shops with traditional Provencal fabric. Carpentras also has one of the oldest synagogues in Provence. (For a very brief period, it was also the residence of a pope.)

In every direction are old villages with cafes and winding streets. One of the best-known is Rousillon, where ochre is minded. Then there is the Fountain of Vaucluse, which has a huge underground spring, and an antique printing press. Gordes is famous for its houses all in stone – not even any cementing allowed to hold the stones.

For the active, there's biking and hiking, for everyone there's touring.

Van Gogh's famous haunts are just an hour away.

The landscape is breath-taking.

Everything is close by: shops, restaurants, street markets, Mt. Ventoux, scenic village after scenic village, and then easy strolls on the property and on the quiet country roads around it.

What does it mean, to feel at home?
Part of Elsa's Creativity Emporium.

For those of you wondering, why so many repetitions,
is that the way you talk, the answer is no.
It has to do with search engines -
they like the main topic words
to be given over and over, in a certain ratio
(as in a recipe, add one egg for every two cups of flour).
I do like - and write - all kinds of poetry.
So this is one way I've had some fun -
in this case with Provence info -
while also doing my best to satisfy the web spiders.
