Hello,

It's been a long winter in Canada. Now finally, spring. So much happening.

But I will start with a little miracle from this January. On January 5, I went to the basement to throw wood into the furnace and found a butterfly - alive.

It must have been in a cocoon in a crevice in a log. So unlikely - that it would emerge in January, that it would survive, that it would emerge where I would find it instead of in some dark corner of the basement where it would not be seen, would not be cared for.

I learned so much about the care of butterflies - like what to feed them. It lived 3 weeks, and then one morning was still, not moving, still on a favorite food - watermelon.

And now spring. What's happening?

I will end with the butterfly - such a tiny creature. And in nature, had it flown by, I would have given it only a glance - oh how beautiful. But since it appeared in my basement in January, suddenly it was so special. I cared about this one tiny butterfly. I took it up to my study, and made sure it was safe from the cats. I called friends and then searched on Google to find out how to care for it.

It had a damaged wing, so could not fly. It could never have survived outdoors. I didn't care. I cared to take care of it as well as I could, and was sad when it stopped living - though I knew that most butterflies don't live long - from a few weeks to a few months.

Anyway, I wish you your own small miracles.
