Montreal Attractions and Activities.
Coming for a Montreal Canada Vacation,
a Holiday in Montreal?
Here are Great Things to Do and See in Montreal.
Paris has the Eiffel Tower.
New York has the Statue of Liberty.
Montreal has ... what?
First, not every city has a world-famous symbol.
London? Lisbon? Vienna? Peking? Calcutta?
No single feature comes to my mind.
Sometimes it's the country which has an ultra famous spot.
India - the Taj Mahal.
Sometimes the symbol is not a place to see.
Vienna - the Blue Danube waltz.
Spain - bull-fighting (not a positive symbol for many).
But that still has not looked at ...
Is there any ultra famous part of Montreal,
that seems to stand for Montreal, in the eyes of the world?
What ranks on the of the list of Montreal attractions,
must-see Montreal activities and things to do
on a holiday in Montreal, a Montreal Canada vacation
?
Montreal attractions? There's the mountain, Mont Royal,
where people walk, play the tam-tam, cross country ski.
Montreal attractions? There's the Olympic Stadium,
which has swallowed huge amounts of taxpayer money -
and was guaranteed never to cost taxpayers a cent.
There is, perhaps most famous, Old Montreal, Vieux Montreal,
narrow cobble stone streets,
boutiques and restaurants.
If Montrealers should want to do tourist watching,
the place to go to would be Old Montreal.
But Old Montreal doesn't stand for Montreal.
Greatest among Montreal attractions, I would say,
is the many parts of Montreal to visit on
a Montreal Canada vacation, a holiday in Montreal.
The Plateau - block after block or revitalized 19th century workers homes,
now boutiques, restaurants, artisan shops and homes.
Westmount - the wealthiest part of Montreal.
The Golden Square Mile -
downtown north of Sherbrooke,
which used to be the wealthiest part of Montreal.
Downtown - especially for the nightlife on Crescent and Mountain,
and the shopping in Montreal's indoor city -
from Place Ville Marie to Place Bonaventure.
Most people want to experience the city -
and this is Montreal's strength.
The neighborhoods to wander through and enjoy,
the cafes to sit in, the restaurants to eat in,
the boutiques to stop in and shop in.
And here one of the invisible Montreal
attractions
is the high safety level and general friendliness of the city..
Visitors almost invariably go - or are taken - to
the lookout on the mountain, where one can see all the way to the Olympic Stadium.
More Places to See:
Notre Dame Cathedral.
St Joseph's Oratory.
The Montreal Museum of Fine Arts.
Place des Arts.
Centaur Theatre.
The BioDome.
The Botanical Gardens.
The Insectarium.
The Planetarium.

And, of course, the Olympic Stadium

And that leaves out that thousands upon thousands
come for a Montreal Canada vacation, a holiday in Montreal,
because of the
the city's celebrated festivals - the Jazz Festival,
Just for Laughs,
the Film Festival,
and more.
