First, the festivals.
These include:
the Montreal Jazz Festival,
the Montreal Comedy Festival,
and the Montreal Film Festival.
The rest of the year, there's still jazz in Montreal,
at jazz bars - the most famous being Biddles.
As for comedy, there are comedy clubs
with different acts every week.
And for film ...
there's way more than mainstream film
available in Montreal,
with small film spaces,
plus series offered at the universities.
But the festivals are only one small part of
Montreal activities that make Montreal so attractive to tourists.
**
A favorite Montreal activity
whenever the weather is good enough - people watching,
while sitting in any of the hundreds of outdoor cafes and restaurants.
People from warmer parts of the globe are often stunned when
they see people choosing to sit outdoors at cafes and restaurants
when the temperature is not much above freezing,
or when there's rain coming down
(just past the awning).
It isn't that Montrealers are particularly hardy,
but after a long winter, or with a long winter on the way,
we often want to savor being able to be outdoors whenever we can.

now a very trendy area full of restaurants and boutiques;
- the Main, or St Laurent boul, with hundreds of ethnic shops;

- the Quartier Latin, which includes Montreal's Gay Village;
- the Monkland Village, another trendy area of shops and restaurants;

And then there are the many Montreal attractions -
- the Biodome to the Planetarium to

-
the Olympic stadium, the Bell Centre;
- culture place like Place des Arts and the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts,
plus theatres including the English language Centaur theater;

Which
